   I Have a New Puppy… Now What?

You brought home a puppy. You’re excited, exhausted, completely in love…and suddenly everyone has an opinion about what you should be doing!

What should I feed? When should I vaccinate? When should I spay or neuter? How much exercise is too much? How much sleep do puppies really need? What about socialization, growth, training, and development?

This month’s Discussion Group is all about navigating those first months of puppyhood—and sorting through the overwhelming amount of information (and misinformation!) that comes with them.

We’ll talk about nutrition, vaccines, spay/neuter timing, physical development, exercise, sleep, socialization, behavior, and more, including how some of these decisions can affect your puppy well beyond puppyhood.

Most importantly, this isn’t about one-size-fits-all answers. Your puppy’s breed, size, developmental stage, temperament, environment, and your lifestyle all matter.

Our goal is to help you understand the why behind these choices so you can make informed decisions that work for both ends of the leash.

Whether your puppy is already home, coming soon, or you’re simply thinking about adding one to your family, come with your questions!

Homework before the discussion group

To get a head start or even stir up more question, give this posd cast a listin. Not a must for attending but a really good overview of all the topics.

Let us know if you have a question or a topic you think we should cover. Getting a new puppy is exciting but there is A LOT to think about before you bring your new fur baby home. In this week's episode, Dr. Katie and Clayton break down some of the most important things every pet parent should be thinking about. From food, to finding a primary vet, to shots we're going to leave you with some helpful information to help your transition smoother. We believe that being a pet parent means constantly learning, connecting, and growing and that’s exactly what this new discussion group is for. 💬

This isn’t just a place to talk training and behavior (although we love that). It’s also a space to explore how everything is connected—nutrition, health, enrichment, stress, and daily life all play a role in your dog’s behavior and well-being.
